Getting Paid in HK Dollar (HKD)

When sellers sign up for eBay management payment service, the sellers will be able to choose the preferred payout currency. Only the eBay accounts in Hong Kong can choose HKD as the payout currency.

A payout refers to the funds you receive from a sale on eBay. As a Hong Kong domicile account owner, you can choose your payout currency between US dollar (USD) or HKD , whichever best fits the needs of your business.

This currency will apply to all payouts, balances, and fees, regardless of the site that you list on.

Please note: after your complete the registration of eBay management payment service, you will not able to change the payout currency. Please ensure that the Payoneer account currency is consistent with the payout currency chosen by you.

Make sure the Payoneer account that you provide is denominated in the same currency as your selected payout currency.

How do I choose HKD as my currency?

Before binding or creating a Payoneer account, the currency opinions will be provided for the sellers in the registration process of eBay management payment service, and USD is set as the default currency; however, the sellers may choose HKD as the payout currency through several simple steps as follows:

  • Choosing HKD from the currency option

  • Payonner Account - linking to an existing Payonner account or creating a new Payoneer account

  • Confirming your details on both eBay account and Payoneer account

  • Adding credit card on file for the purposes of paying the fees related to return, dispute, etc

  • Confirming the application details and submitting the registration request

What else do I need to know?

Additional fees may also apply when you select a payout currency that is different from the listing currency of the eBay site(s) that you list on. For example, if you select HKD payouts and choose to list on eBay.com, your items will be listed in USD and may be subject to additional fees when funds converted to HKD.

    No, you will not be able to change your payout currency at a later time.

    If you select HKD payouts and choose to list on eBay.com, your items will be listed in USD and may be subject to additional fees when converted to HKD.

  • What kind of Payoneer account do I need to accept HKD payouts?

    Payoneer account is able to accept HKD payouts. You can choose to link an existing Payonner account or create a new Payoneer account to receive HKD payouts.

  • Can I receive payouts in both HKD and USD?

    No, only one payout currency is accepted under the same eBay account.

  • I’m a seller from CN, TW, can I choose HKD as the payout currency?

    No, only USD awill be provided to CN and TW domicile sellers as the payout currency. HKD payout currency is only available to HK domicile sellers.

  • Does the currency that I choose impact what my buyers will see?

    No, your payout currency choice is not visible to buyers and will not impact your listings.

  • How long will it take for me to receive my payout?

    When eBay manages payments, funds from your sales are made available within 2 business days after the buyer’s payment is confirmed. You may choose to receive payouts of available funds daily or weekly; there is NO difference between USD and HKD dollar currency.
